Moments Before the Ceremony Begins

Some weddings are remembered for their grandeur, but this one will always stay with me for its quiet, elegant beauty. At the heart of it all was a bride whose beauty wasn’t only in her gown or the florals, but in the calm, luminous way she carried herself.

As a female photographer, I often find myself drawn to the subtler moments — the way light falls across a face, the hush before a step forward, the softness of a glance. The Vancouver Club, with its chandeliers, candlelight, and timeless architecture, became more than a backdrop that day; it was a frame for her grace.

Her mermaid gown traced elegant lines against the Club’s historic textures, while the white-and-green florals added a delicate freshness to the classic setting. Each time she moved through the room, the light seemed to follow, catching small details — a flicker of a candle, a curve of fabric, the quiet sparkle in her eyes.

I believe the beauty of a wedding isn’t only in the scale of the celebration, but in these fleeting, almost unspoken instants. Through my lens, I wanted to honour that intimacy — the stillness, the warmth, and the timeless elegance that made her presence unforgettable
